When I was a kid my maternal grandmother had theses little plastic tile games around her business. She would let me play with them when I visited. They were just a series of white tiles with black numbers.
Tessera, Latin for tile, is web based version of those little tile games of the past. I had written a Swift/SwiftUI version but never released it.
The premise is simple, slide the tiles into order to complete the puzzle. Try to do it in as few moves as you can!
In Tessera, you can use the default color grid, or choose a picture from your device’s photos. Once you begin the picture is shuffled! Slide the tiles around and restore the picture!
I hope you have as much fun playing this little puzzle game as I did creating the original.
- Tile moves are tracked and the total displayed at the end.
(Tip: Sliding a row or column of tiles counts as a single tile move!) - Choose a 3 x 3 or 4 x 4 board.
- Get hints; After 3 hints, Tap Solve to see the solution in action if you wish.
- Want an extra challenge? Toggle off the tile index by tapping the ‘#’.
(If you do this on the color grid and win, you’ve got skills! 😀) - Turn off app sound by tapping the speaker icon.
